After announcing her presidency for the United States, Kamala Harris is being questioned on her past record on mass incarceration as San Francisco’s district attorney and then as California’s attorney general. Most of her policies affected Black Americans and now she has to answer for her punitive-law-and order mentality. Those who experienced her wrath first hand are implying she is not the criminal justice reformer Black America is looking for. The criticism she received thus far on her policies are warranted and must be answered.
But, more importantly she has not specifically stated, what she will do for Black America. No longer is the Black vote to be taken for granted, we are asking for tangibles in 2020
Necessary Blackness Podcast explores Kamala Harris’ record on mass incarceration and the hyper-criminalization of Black men and her voting record while Senator. #Tangibles2020
Who’s really to blame? Did we enable “the pied piper” of R&B to commit crimes against black women or were we protecting the reputation of a music genius?

The Cranston school district says it has hired a collection agency to recover unpaid lunch balances. (MGN)
In a letter to parents obtained by NBC 10 News, Raymond Votto Jr., chief operating officer of Cranston Public Schools, said the district has previously tried to collect outstanding lunch bills “without much success.”
“In
an effort to reduce our unpaid balance, the District has retained the
services of a collection agency. The company is Transworld Systems and
they will begin their collection efforts effective January 2, 2019,” the
letter said.
Votto
said between Sept. 1, 2016 and June 30, 2018, the school district wrote
off $95,508. He said the unpaid balance for the current academic year
is $45,859.
“The District lunch program cannot continue to lose revenue,” Votto said.
Lois Clemens, whose grandson attends an elementary school in Cranston, told NBC 10 she sees both sides of the debate.
“Yeah,
$45,000 is a lot of money for the school district to not have, but then
on the other hand I know what it’s like not to have enough money,”
Clemens said.
Lunch at a public elementary school in Cranston
costs $2.50 per day. For middle school and high school students, it’s
$3.25 a day. Votto said parents who owe $20 or more and who haven’t paid
off the balance within 60 days will receive a letter from the
collection agency starting next year.
Students who owe money for
multiple meals won’t go hungry, the district said. Students will
continue to get the same entrée that paying students receive. In the
past, the district offered students who owed money an alternative meal –
a sunny butter sandwich, fruit and milk — but stopped doing that when
it realized parents still weren’t paying the lunch bills.
Votto said, “We’re feeding the children. That’s not in dispute. We offer free breakfast.”
The
school district told NBC 10 it wanted to take a soft approach and said
the collection agency will not be calling parents, but rather mailing
them.
In honor of his life, the siblings of Joseph Worthington are seeking to establish “The Joseph Worthington Scholarship” program. We are asking for your financial generosity, to support and help honor the memory of Joseph Worthington.
As many of you know, Joe made his transition on January 31st, 2016. The outpour of support and attendance at his funeral showed the magnitude of love the people had for him. Joseph will always remain a beautiful soul, who is missed, who is mourned, who is loved. Joseph was a super smart, undyingly loyal and faithful friend, brother and father.
As family members, we are still devastated. We are still feeling the pain. So many people have asked what they can do to help the family to honor Joe. We thought long and hard and didn’t have the words, but together we have the power.
By making a donation to the scholarship fund, you are not only enriching the life of someone deserving of a chance to attend college, but you are helping to honor the memory and legacy of Joseph Worthington.
The scholarship fund is being established by the brothers and sisters of Joseph Worthington, to offer a unique opportunity for those who are facing financial hardship or particular life challenges but still want to pursue higher education. The program gives them a chance that most other programs do not offer.
The Joseph Worthington Foundation seeks to become a firm believer in helping young people not only reach their career goals but also establish a secure future.
If you’re unable to donate, please Like and Share our GoFundMe Scholarship Fundraising post with all of your family and friends and help us make a difference.
We would be most grateful, if you would consider supporting us in this worthy cause.
Peace and Prosperity,
The Family & Friends of Joseph Worthington
ATTN: We will also be commemorating Joe’s 50th birthday celebration Joe on August 13-14th in NYC with a cook out and visit to his grave site. We will keep everyone informed of the details as they develop.
“In the Age of Information Ignorance is a Choice”. This for the most part sums up what I am about to say about the State of Black People Worldwide. We live in a time where you can store, access and retrieve more information in a device that can fit in your pocket that would have taken up entire buildings just 30 years ago. We live in a World where Technological Advances and Breakthru’s are happening everyday in the fields of Science, Energy, Transportation, etc… Companies like Google, Facebook, Apple and Twitter constantly pushing the envelope in the area’s of Social Media, Marketing and Business. Scientist now have the ability to replicate your memories and by the year 2030 they will be able to download your consciousness on a computer chip at the point of death. Sounds familiar if you have seen The Matrix, Lucy, Surrogate or Transcendence. New Billionaires are rising up all around the World yet in Black Communities Worldwide we face the same if not worst situations than ever before. Black Power and Civil Rights Leaders and Organizations have not kept pace with a ever evolving Political and Economic Landscape.
In a time where we have the First Black President the Black Agenda has been pushed back a hundred years in favor of Gay Rights. Black Churches have become all but irrelevant to the Black cause. Instead of asking 65 million dollars to build a bank, credit union or school, Churches and Pastors asking for a Private Jet. The Black Church has collected some 400 plus Billion Dollars in the last 30 years but there exist no viable black bank, black school or black anything for that matter. Black unemployment is at a all-time high. We provide free labor for the Prison Industrial Complex. The gap between the Black Upper Class and Middle to Lower Class is at unprecedented numbers. Rappers, Athlete’s and Entertainers could care less about a Black Agenda in the wake of more Black Men and Boys being murdered by Police all over the Country.
We have been duped by Black Leaders, Organizations and Churches into keeping the Faith, going to School and Working Hard is still the way to Progress and Success, while a teenage Bill Gates created Microsoft, a teenage Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook, a teenage Steven Jobs created Apple, etc… Black employment at Google, Microsoft and Facebook is less than 1% and only 7% at Apple. In the Age of Information you get Paid for using your Mind not your Hands. While every other Ethnicity is closing Ranks and bonding Together, Africans Worldwide are becoming more Divided. Brother Malcolm said it best 50 years ago. When we come together leave your Religion, Fraternal and Class Affiliation at home and focus on the one thing we have in common and that is we are Black. In every Community, in every State, in every Nation we must Develop, Build and Maintain a Black Agenda. We must Develop and Build Think Tanks and Investment Clubs. We must Think Black, Buy Black and Be Black for the sake of the present Generation and Generations to come. If we don’t we will be but a Memory.
The Gates Foundation Trust has millions invested in for-profit prisons, and Bill Gates will not respond to community pressure to divest. On March 7, Enlace, Presente.org, and 25 other immigrant rights, criminal justice, and social justice organizations sent Bill Gates a letter demanding divestment from the unethical and inhumane GEO Group, whose immigrant detention facilities are notorious for prisoner abuses and waste of taxpayer dollars. Join us for a press conference of community organizations and Gates grantees who demand divestment by Gates from private prisons. Investors like the Gates Foundation Trust finance prisons companies that lobby for taxpayer money to pay for brutal immigration enforcement policies that fill private prisons with undeserving people who should be free to support their families. The Gates Foundation Trust is located less than 35 miles from GEO Group’s now-notorious immigrant detention center in Tacoma, where courageous detainees have been on hunger strike for over a month to protest the horrible conditions at the facility and deportations. The Gates Foundation Trust is financing exploitative labor conditions, inadequate food, and understaffing that occur at the Tacoma facility and other GEO Group facilities, as well as the anti-immigrant policies that lead detainees to languish there for months.
